Authors Monica Eng and David Hammond have dug into the stories behind these and lesser-known Chicago favorites like the jibarito, Big Baby, and the Mother-in-Law, and in this presentation, they will discuss a number of these foods and the sometimes unusual stories behind their creation. Looking at these foods reveals Chicago’s immigrant past and some incredible street-level inventiveness.
