Anna Marie Pietrolonardo

September 18, 1947 - October 21, 2024

Anna Marie Pietrolonardo, 77, of Amboy, IL, went peacefully to her heavenly home to be with her family on Monday, October 21, 2024, under the loving care of the ICU nurses at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

Anna Marie was the daughter of the late Baldassarre "Bill" and Mary (Mariano) Pietrolonardo. She was predeceased in death by her sisters Antoinette Pietrolonardo and Emily Pietrolonardo.

Anna Marie graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington Heights, IL, Class of 1965. She earned a Bachelor Degree from Scripps College, Claremont, CA, in Latin American Studies. Next, she was a NDEA Fellow at Northwestern University where she holds two Masters in Spanish and Portuguese while teaching undergraduate Spanish. After an M.B.A. from De Paul University and a thirty-year career in health care marketing, she returned to teaching at Northern Illinois University, while working on IL teaching credentials. She taught at Amboy High School. Then she took a position with Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) organizing a World Language program supported by state-of-the-art technological resources. She founded the World Language Student Organization to provide cultural enrichment beyond the classroom. She also developed fully online world language courses for the first two years of college. Lastly, while at IVCC, she established the Zeta of Illinois Chapter of Sigma Delta Mu.

In her retirement she enjoyed her heirloom vegetable and flower gardens, orchard, and animals, as well as restoration of her historic Victorian farm home.

Anna wished to be cremated and buried with her mother and father at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
