Monopoly Puzzler #1
- Q1
- Which color-group of three properties can you buy on a single turn?
- A1
- Any of them. Another player or players could sell all of them to you at any time.
- Q2
- OK, then, which color-group of three properties can you buy from the Bank on a single turn?
- A2
- Again, any of them. A player who owns all three could go bankrupt to the Bank and you could buy them in the resulting auction.
- Q3
- All right, then, which color-group of three properties can you buy from the Bank on a single turn of your own? This time there is exactly one such group.
- A3
- The Orange group. You can land on St James Place with doubles roll snake-eyes to get Tennessee Avenue, then roll a three and a one to reach Chance, where you draw "Go Back Three Spaces." You might think this hat trick could be managed with the light purple or the red group, but it can't. From Indiana you can't reach a Chance square to draw "Advance to Illinois" and a light purple coup would require three doubles in a row, interrupting your spree with a jail term.
