Sir Ernest Shackleton and the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration
Description
Ernest Shackleton, an Antarctic explorer, is mostly well known for his Endurance Expedition, 1914-1916, when his bravery and leadership resulted in the survival and safe return of all 28 men from his ship, overcoming unimaginable odds. This expedition is considered the greatest survival story of all time. The program covers Shackleton’s biography, his four Antarctic expeditions, and interesting facts about other men on his expeditions. Slides will include actual period photos from these expeditions as well as Ken’s personal photos taken at these locations.

Presenter’s Bio
Ken first went to Antarctica in 2001 and subsequently developed a passion for the history of polar exploration. He has been to the Antarctic four times, south of the Antarctic Circle twice, and north of the Arctic Circle four times. He has examined polar artifacts and museum exhibits in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Norway, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. He has an extensive library of books and videos of polar history. Ken loves to share his experiences and knowledge.
