Description

The Peace Corps is an experience open to US citizens. It is unique to those individuals, the country they are hosted by, the group they train with, and eventually the community they live and work in. There are three goals of Peace Corps;

  1. help other countries meet their needs with trained volunteers
  2. help Americans understand other peoples
  3. help other peoples understand Americans.

This presentation is to familiarize you with the Peace Corps Experience, the people and culture of Thailand and how Peace Corps follows you forever.

Ray Cox

Presenter’s Bio

Ray is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer having served in the Forestry Extension program in Thailand from 1992 to 1994. The Peace Corps is life changing while most people are "in country" , for some, like Ray, it continued in various ways. His 28 year career in education was fostered with a Peace Corps Fellowship at De Paul University. He also met Marcy, his wife, at a post-Peace Corps event and they built a family together.

Deadlines

  • Registration - Discounts for advanced registration are available through Friday, October 17th. (Note: Full payment is required by the appropriate deadline to qualify for the discount for which you registered.)
  • Lodging - The hotel is offering a WeeM rate of $129 through Thursday, October 9th, subject to availability. If the hotel block is full, please contact our WeeM Chair  who will try to expand the block.
  • Room Sharing - Email us  if you’re interested in sharing a room by submitting your preferences by Wednesday, October 29th.
  • Speaker/Meet & Greet/Tournament Submissions - The deadline to submit your proposal for a program, Meet & Greet, or tournament is Monday, September 15th.
