Title
Thirty Years of AI: How Times Have Changed
Description
As a Computer Science undergrad in the early nineties, one of my final courses was in Artificial Intelligence. I had enormous fun playing with self-modifying LISP code and writing board games that might beat a competent human player. Fast forward to 2021 - I enrolled in the graduate program for Data Science, and again encountered a class in AI. And while I once again had enormous fun, the field is unrecognizable. Instead of playing board games we're diagnosing illnesses. Instead of writing self-modifying code we're working with objects hardly recognizable as code. Come see what's changed!
