A Logical Journey
What do you need to travel? An organized tour? An itinerary? Companions? Reservations? Visas? Guidebooks? Suitcases? Maybe not. Wandering alone while trusting serendipity led to this interesting three-month journey in 2018. Sri Lanka is an island the size of West Virginia with eight World Heritage sites. Then…India was close, just across the Palk Strait—colorful, tasty, inexpensive, with more friendly folks. And then…China appeared to be a logical next step. This is a testament to the theory that planning and money are not as necessary as a spirit of adventure when you want to see the world.
Ruth Danielle spent 25 years earning an M.M. in voice from Northwestern. Her longest job was with the Chicago Symphony Chorus; there were hundreds of other less interesting ones. Mensa changed her life: she became a local group officer and graduated to Honcho of Isolated M SIG. She haphazardly wanders the world, shares her travel adventures through her presentations, creates jewelry and still sings.
